Shickel Corporation completed several parts in the renovation of Tyler Hall on the campus of William and Mary. The renovation included the removal of walls to open up the space inside the building. We fabricated and installed several structural steel pieces including vertical beams that were covered and became columns in the new open area. Shickel fabricated and installed a new steel structure staircase that was wrapped in stainless steel trim and topped with glass and stainless steel posts. As well as the new stair being added to the building, there were several egress stairs modified to be compliant with modern safety standards. Shickel installed handrail extensions to the top of existing handrail and posts while maintaining the look and feel of the old rail. This brought the railing into compliance while maintaining the appearance of the original 100-year old railing.
